Meet Suzanne

Suzanne Seidel Richmond is a lifelong Virginian and a proud product of Virginia Beach. Born and raised in the city, she graduated from Kempsville High School before dedicating her life to public service and the law. With 18 years as an attorney and hundreds of cases tried, Suzanne brings unmatched experience and perspective to the role of Commonwealth’s Attorney. She has served as a trial prosecutor, a public defender, and an appellate attorney for the Commonwealth—giving her a deep understanding of the justice system from every angle. As a mother of three boys, Suzanne knows what it means to fight for safer communities and brighter futures. She’s not running from the sidelines—she’s in the arena, showing up, doing the work, and standing up for what’s right. A career public servant, a proven prosecutor, and a passionate advocate, Suzanne is stepping up to lead because she believes the Commonwealth’s Attorney should be present in the community, connected to its people, and relentless

Top Priorities

Reduce Gun Violence—Especially Among Youth
Gun violence is rising—and too many of our kids are caught in the crossfire.
Suzanne will focus on illegal guns, repeat offenders, and early intervention to stop violence before it starts.

Community-Based Prosecution
You should know your prosecutor. Suzanne will be present, visible, and engaged—building trust in every neighborhood.
She supports precinct-based prosecution that connects prosecutors directly to the people they serve.

Veterans Treatment Docket
Authorized by the Virginia Supreme Court since 2019—but never implemented in Virginia Beach.
Suzanne will change that.  Veterans involved in the criminal justice system often face unique challenges—like PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and substance use tied to their service. These dockets offer a structured path toward accountability, treatment, and reintegration.
